Ice Storm Update 5: Thursday, April 3, 2025
Road Conditions - What to Expect:
Crews Are Still Out There Public Works staff are wrapping up debris cleanup, monitoring roads, and clearing ditches and culverts. Please help by ensuring your own drainage paths remain clear.
- Gravel Roads: Soft, muddy conditions, potholes & washboarding—Grading will continue as roads dry out.
- Paved Roads: Frost leaving the ground = potholes & surface damage. Repairs will be ongoing as weather allows!
- Flooding Risks: High snowpack + warm temps + rain = water over roads in some areas. Please use caution in these areas.
- Road Closures: Stay updated via Municipal 511 before traveling.
Important Reminders:
- Arena and TCC are open for warming, device charging, and more.
- Showers available at the Arena today from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This week has taught us the importance of Staying Storm-Ready:
- Check that your CO detectors are working and replace batteries if needed.
- Inspect sump pumps and drainage ditches to ensure water is flowing away from your home.
- Restock your 72-hour emergency kit in case of further outages or weather impacts.
Tree Cleanup Tips:
- Use proper safety gear and avoid working near power lines.
- Never cut trees or limbs close to wires—call a professional.
- Be alert for suspended or split branches that could still fall.
Thank You To Our Community:
Thank You To our Hydro crews, Public Works, emergency responders, volunteers, local businesses, and every neighbour who checked on someone, cleared a path, or lent a hand—thank you!

Your efforts made a real difference. Please continue to be patient and kind as we move into spring cleanup and road repair season.
This will be our final daily update, but we’ll continue to share important notices as needed.
Stay safe, stay kind, and take care of each other.
