Ice Storm Update 3: Tuesday, April 1, 2025

Our community continues to recover from the recent ice storm. Public Works crews are out grading and clearing roads to improve conditions—please give them space to work and treat all crews with patience and respect as they work hard in to keep our community safe.
Important Reminders:
  • Stay away from downed wires and respect all barricades.
  • Check on neighbours, especially seniors or those living alone.
  • Arena and TCC are open for warming, device charging, and more.
  • Showers available at the Arena from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Stay Storm-Ready:
  • Check that your CO detectors are working and replace batteries if needed.
  • With more precipitation on the way, inspect sump pumps and drainage ditches to ensure water is flowing away from your home.
  • Restock your 72-hour emergency kit in case of further outages or weather impacts.
  • Practice generator safety: keep it outside and well-ventilated, not too close to your home, turn it off every 8 hours to cool, and ensure you have enough fuel.
To report hazards or for more information, contact: 1-833-793-3537

Tree Cleanup Tips - Safety First:
  • Ice-damaged trees can be dangerous. Wear protective gear (hard hat, gloves, safety glasses) and stay away from power lines.
  • Do not attempt to prune or cut trees near power lines.
  • Watch for suspended branches or split trunks—they can fall without warning and cause serious injury.
Thank You
A heartfelt thank you to our Hydro crews, Public Works, Emergency Responders and local businesses working tirelessly to restore services and keep us safe. Please be patient and kind—they’re out in the cold so we can be warm and safe.
Stay safe, stay kind, and take care of each other.
