Current Openings
The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula currently has the following employment opportunities available.
Seasonal By-Law and Animal Control Officer
- Enforce municipal by-laws, including property standards and animal control regulations.
- Monitor and assist with the enforcement of parking regulations.
- Investigate complaints related to by-law infractions, including stray and vicious animals, dog bites, and licensing violations.
- Capture and transport stray animals safely, arranging shelter when necessary.
- Issue verbal warnings, written notices, Provincial Offence Notices, and Summons.
- Patrol the community to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Liaise with the Crown Law Office and appear in court or before committees as needed.
- Maintain detailed records and an organized filing system.
- Respond to public inquiries via phone, email, and in-person meetings.
- Minimum secondary school diploma (post-secondary education in law enforcement, justice, or a related field preferred).
- General knowledge of municipal government, provincial offences, and relevant laws.
- Previous supervisory and clerical experience.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and custom software.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clear abstract.
- Clear criminal record check.
- Physical fitness to allow for walking, standing, or riding for prolonged periods.
- Ability to remain professional and courteous in challenging situations.
- Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, with flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties.
- Provided Resources: A municipal vehicle, appropriate clothing, an identification badge, and necessary safety equipment.
- Work Environment: This position involves working outdoors in various conditions, exposure to animals of varying health and temperament, and interactions with individuals who may be distressed or confrontational.
