Harbour Master Assistant - Lion's Head

Harbour Master Assistant – Lion’s Head Harbour

Location: Lion’s Head, Ontario
Department: Facilities, Parks, and Recreation
Employment Term: Seasonal (May to October)
Wage: $23.98 per hour (per OPSEU Local 266 Agreement)

Are you passionate about working outdoors, engaging with the public, and keeping our beautiful harbour running smoothly? The Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula is looking for a Harbour Master Assistant to join our team for the upcoming season!

What You’ll Do:

Maintain harbour buildings, washrooms, and docking areas
Assist boaters with docking, fueling, and pump-outs
Greet guests and provide helpful information
Conduct harbour inspections and report issues
Maintain grounds (grass cutting, planting, watering, etc.)
Operate a cash register and handle transactions
Support minor dock repairs and harbour safety operations

Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to perform maintenance tasks and work outdoors
Willingness to work irregular shifts, including evenings and weekends

Lion's Head Harbour Attendant - Union

The Municipality is seeking one Harbour Attendant to assist in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained harbour and marina in Lion’s Head. This seasonal position runs from May to September, with a pay rate of $23.24/hour (based on the OPSEU Collective Agreement). If you enjoy working outdoors, assisting boaters, and ensuring the harbour is in top condition, we encourage you to apply!

As a Harbour Attendant, you will be responsible for the daily operations of the harbour, including the upkeep of facilities, docks, and public washrooms. Duties include operating a cash register, assisting with fueling boats and pump-outs, helping boaters with docking and securing vessels, and providing excellent customer service by greeting guests and addressing inquiries. You will also conduct regular inspections of the harbour area, perform grounds maintenance (such as grass cutting, weeding, raking, and flower bed care), sweep the harbour area, remove garbage, and assist with minor dock repairs as needed. Harbour Attendants at the Lion’s Head Marina may also have responsibilities related to the Lion’s Head Campground.

In addition to these duties, you will attend staff meetings as required, follow all municipal policies, adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act of Ontario, and complete other tasks as assigned by the Harbour Master. A full job description can be found here .
